Borg Moller & Partners wants to locate a suitable harbour in Denmark where a Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) can be placed.
The FSRU will be able to take delivery of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) which goes through the regassification unit where the temperature is increased from minus 163 to above zero degrees. This will change the LNG from liquid form to gaseous form enabling the natural gas to be transported through the gas pipeline.
The FSRU is intended to have a estimated yearly capacity of 5 million metric tonnes of LNG or approximately 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The natural gas coming into the main Danish gas grid system from the FSRU is intended to the German as well as the Baltic region. The Baltic Pipeline is currently under construction and will facilitate natural gas to Poland once completed.
The FSRU will enhance the energy supply security in the entire region – Denmark included.
You can download market reports within the energy supply and demand for the Baltic region here.
