As Borg Moller & Partners is dedicated initiating a new high standard for SOLAS the following is to underline our opinion that all crews shall have attended a one-week course addressing the issues regarding abandoned assets.
This will take place in Denmark on a facility called “SOLAS Maritime Institute of Denmark” which will be initiated by Borg Moller & Partners.
It is our ambition that all vessels shall operate under the Human Responsability Compliance System, HRCS, standard.
The seafarers will attend a week-long course and afterwards receive a diploma, stating that they have received the proper education preventing the future transport of abandoned assets.
All seafarers on Borg Moller Shipping’s vessels are required to attend the course prior to boarding the Company’s vessels. There is a need for this, and Borg Moller Shipping will naturally spearhead the effort due to our positioning.
The courses will be offered to the general market as well. Over the next two year Borg Moller & Partners will promote the course through all channels.
Initially the “SOLAS Maritime Institute of Denmark” will be a temporary setup at the location in Denmark based on barracks. This solution facilitates a swift and cost-effective start-up of the Institute. The barrack solution is also used in the Danish school system as a substitute form permanent buildings.
The 8-10 vessel crews that will rotate on Borg Moller Shipping’s vessels will all have been through this by 1 September 2022.
.
When Borg Moller Shipping has educated its preliminary crews then Borg Moller & Partners will commence addressing the public using public media network.
It is the ambition that in 5 years, all harbour masters in the Baltic region, as well as vessel crews operating in the Baltic region, auditors etc. will have a diploma. They will have achieved knowledge of how to login, pay and draw a report of data from the GCOS system. Enabling them to enter into a harbour in good spirit.
There must be a reason for the UN Security Council to address this. And HRCS must use this opportunity to be regarded as the new standard for fulfilling the goal regarding the termination of transporting abandoned assets. And Borg Moller Shipping is the first one to act under this new rule-set.
HRCS will use the softwareplatform of GCOS,
